Therefore the relationships we cultivate, the local farmers we support and the education we provide continue to be relevant. > One of our key relationships directly connected to sustainability has been our on-going relationship with the Will Steger Foundation. The WSF understands the vital role food production plays in the bigger picture of sustainability. They provide to-notch, science-based education for educators to help instruct the upcoming generations on climate change. Each year the WSF sponsors an education outreach called the Summer Institute. > This year, the 4th annual Summer Institute for Climate Change Education is on Wednesday August 19th, 8:30-4:30 pm at the University of Minnesota. Applications available for download: www.globalwarming101.com > The Summer Institute will focus on the international climate negotiations in Copenhagen and unveil a brand new curriculum on international climate solutions for grades 9-12. Keynote speakers include renowned author and climate activist, Bill McKibben, along with Will Steger. > Registration opens in May for 100 onsite participants ($75/teacher or $100/pair) and an unlimited number of participants for our online webinar ($25/teacher). Onsite participants will receive the Citizen Climate Curriculum and online participants will be able to download the curriculum free of charge from the Global Warming 101 website. > The institute will highlight the critical need for international cooperation on climate change solutions, and equip educators with the tools necessary to empower student learning and leadership on the topic. Educators will also learn about the Midwest youth delegation to Copenhagen, led by the Will Steger Foundation, and ways that they can follow the youth experience online through multi-media dispatches including text, images, and video. The Isle Royale & Keweenaw Parks Assoc. (IRKPA) is sponsoring its third Isle Royale Botany Workshop. > Experience four days in Lake Superior’s Isle Royale National Park and learn to identify the diverse native plants of this incredible island! > •This special botany workshop is open to anyone with beginning/intermediate knowledge of plant identification who would like to learn to identify the early season plants of Isle Royale. You’ll learn to use such tools as a dichotomous key and hand lens to identify plants. Plant communities, rare species, ecology, and invasive species will be discussed. > •The instructor, botanist Janet Marr, has had many years of experience studying plants across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and Isle Royale. She is co-author of Island Life, an Isle Royale Nature Guide recently published by IRKPA. Janet has taught two Isle Royale botany workshops as well as many botany and aquatic plant workshops in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula. > •Workshop activities will take place primarily outdoors. Field trips will be in the vicinity of Rock Harbor and will include Tobin Harbor, Scoville Point, and Raspberry Island. You should be able to hike up to seven miles a day with a daypack sometimes on steep, rocky trails and slippery bedrock shore. > •Participants may camp for free at a Rock Harbor group site, or stay in the Rock Harbor Lodge or housekeeping units at their own expense. > •Total cost for the workshop is US$600 per person ($575 for IRKPA members; see http://irnha.org/ for information on becoming a member). Fee covers instruction, camping, meals on the island, and transportation to and from Houghton, Michigan, on the Ranger III. Participants may travel from Grand Portage, Minnesota, on the Voyager at their own expense. > Enrollment is limited to 12 participants. > The Twin Cities Chapter of R.O.C.K (Raising Our Celiac Kids) is pleased to announce our Annual Gluten-Free Fun Camp for kids ages 8-17 with celiac disease. GFF Camp will take place August 4-7, 2009 at Camp Courage in Maple Lake, MN. > R.O.C.K. volunteers will once again be working with the Camp Courage staff to ensure a completely gluten-free menu and oversee the food preparation. Healing Intentions is a 4-hour small group experience in being present to what is needed for your own healing of body, mind and spirit. Healing Intentions is designed to create a setting in which profound insights, healing and opening to Spirit can take place. You will be invited and prepared to participate in intentional healing for you and for others in the group.

Discount is based on the number of hours accrued as a volunteer each quarter. Each hour of volunteer time equals 0.5%.
