Beef Tips with Gravy

This dish is comfort food at it’s best and in it’s most simple form. The beef melts in your mouth and the thick, rich gravy makes itself while cooking so you don’t have to worry about it. Serve this with some mashed potatoes or over buttered noodles, it’s up to you.  Either way, your family will devour it.

CROCK POT VERSION: Follow the same steps above, but cook in the crock pot on HIGH 4-6 hours or LOW 6-8 hours. Stir in the sour cream just before serving.

  • 1. Place the beef stew meat into a large bowl, sprinkle in the flour, salt, black pepper and paprika.
  • 2. Toss the meat to coat it with the flour and spices. Layer the meat and the onions in a large pot.
  • 3. Next, in a small bowl, whisk together the red cooking wine, broth, Worcestershire sauce and tomato paste.
  • 4. Pour liquid over the meat and add the bay leaves.
  • 5. Bring to a boil, reduce to medium heat and simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until meat is tender.
  • 6. Stir in sour cream just before serving.
